Marcus Rashford ready to play through pain barrier for Man Utd vs Liverpool

Marcus Rashford is reportedly ready to play through the pain barrier to face Manchester United’s rivals Liverpool .

Rashford, United’s top scorer this campaign with 19 goals, is a huge doubt for Sunday’s Anfield game after suffering a back injury in a 1-0 FA Cup victory over Wolves .

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to bring Rashford on in the 64th minute of the replay backfired, with the England international sustaining the injury just few minutes later.

The striker had to be replaced and is undergoing intensive treatment in order to ensure he can start against the Premier League leaders.

However, United do not want to rush him back too soon and risk the club’s highest goalscorer this season suffering a further injury that could rule him out for even longer.

But Rashford is believed to have responded well to initial treatment and is ready to put his body on the line and play against Liverpool – even if he needs a pain-killing injection to do so.

On Rashford’s injury, Ole Solskjaer said: “He’s had trouble with the back lately but that is a different matter. Now we’ve got a different one.

“We’ll do everything we can to see and try to get him fit for Sunday, but I can’t promise. We’ll manage.”

With midfield duo Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay already out of the game, Solskjaer cannot afford to be without his most prolific scorer and arguably most influential player this campaign.

United are the only Premier League team to take points off Jurgen Klopp’s formidable side this season, after holding them to a 1-1 draw in October.
