Chelsea has expressed a strong interest in Tel, but they still need to convince the forward to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham has also shown interest in the 19-year-old, but it’s uncertain if they can finalize the deal.
Manchester United and Arsenal are both reportedly eager to secure Tel’s signature in the coming days. A move to Arsenal could be Tel’s preferred choice, given his admiration for Thierry Henry.
Tel was often compared to Henry when he emerged, sharing similar qualities with the Arsenal legend. Henry had a remarkable career at Arsenal, scoring 228 goals across his two stints at the club.
In 2023, Henry praised his compatriot’s goal-scoring abilities, calling them “exceptional.”
“I think you’ve been following what he’s been doing. Being involved in eight goals while not having started any games except one in the cup is exceptional.” he explained.
“It’s not easy to start games at Bayern, but also not easy to be subbed on before other big players like Thomas Muller.
“Mathys often comes in before him (Muller) and makes the difference in the few minutes he’s getting.”
Tel transferred to Bayern Munich from Rennes for £24 million in the summer of 2022. He has netted 16 goals for the German side, mostly coming off the bench for his appearances.
This season, he has participated in 13 matches across various competitions but has yet to score.
By joining Arsenal, Tel could follow in the footsteps of his childhood hero.
