FIFA has established December 15 as the deadline for players to report to their national squads. However, that date coincides with United’s Premier League home fixture against Bournemouth.
As things stand, it is still unclear whether the trio will be available to play in Monday night’s match before traveling to international duty, with Ruben Amorim admitting the situation remains unresolved.
Despite the uncertainty, Mbeumo and Amad appear unfazed. On Friday evening, the Cameroon international posted an Instagram story featuring a photo taken by Amad that included himself and Leny Yoro.
In the image, Amad is making a humorous expression while Yoro stands behind them. Mbeumo tagged both players and wrote: “No problem my boys” alongside a sunglasses emoji.
He later uploaded another image, this one captured by Yoro, again showing Amad pulling a playful face in the background.
While Mbeumo and Amad will be away at the tournament, Yoro — who represents France — will stay at United and look to contribute to the team’s push up the league standings.
During his pre-match press conference on Friday, Amorim reiterated that a final decision has yet to be made regarding the availability of Mbeumo, Amad and Mazraoui for the Bournemouth clash.
“We are waiting until the last moment to have all the players available to choose the best team to start the game,” he said. “I expect to have a decision today or maybe tomorrow.
“Every national team has their ideas about when they want the players. I don’t know if it’s going to be the same situation (with each player). It depends on the games.
“It’s frustrating but at the same time nobody knows who is going to play. So it’s a good thing, I think.
“We have players to cope with everything, and with a long week you can see a lot of things to prepare the game and any situation.”
Since arriving during the summer transfer window, Mbeumo has quickly become an important figure under Amorim. The 26-year-old has featured from the start in every Premier League match this season, netting six goals.
Amad finds himself in a comparable role, regularly starting at right wing-back.
Mazraoui, meanwhile, has struggled for consistent minutes but has been named in the starting lineup for the last two matches as part of a back three.
