Jose Mourinho, the esteemed manager, has expressed his belief that Son Heung-min, Tottenham’s captain, possesses the talent to be a part of the world’s elite football clubs.
Despite the potential for controversy among Tottenham supporters, Mourinho maintains that his comments are not intended to be derogatory.

During Mourinho’s tenure at Tottenham from 2019 to 2021, which didn’t yield the desired results, Son was among the few players who flourished, enhancing his already potent partnership with Harry Kane.
Under Mourinho’s guidance, the South Korean leader not only thrived but also achieved remarkable statistics, netting 29 goals and providing 25 assists across 70 matches.
His outstanding performance earned him the Tottenham Player of the Season award for 2019/20 and a spot in the Premier League Team of the Year for 2020/21.
‘I don’t look at Son as a Korean player. I look at Son as one of the best players in the world,’ Mourinho, who has been out of work since getting sacked by Roma, told EA Sports FC.
‘Maybe Tottenham supporters aren’t going to be happy with what I’m going to say, it’s not disrespectful. He could win titles, he could play for the best teams.
‘He could be playing in England for Man City, for Liverpool, for Chelsea. It could be abroad, playing for one of the top teams.
‘He has that modern mobility of the attacking players. He can play through the middle, from the sides, wide to coming inside.’
Son Heung-min has undoubtedly etched his name in Tottenham’s annals, amassing 162 goals, ranking him fifth in the club’s all-time scoring list, along with 83 assists in 405 games since his introduction nine years ago.
Despite his legendary status, the 31-year-old forward has yet to clinch any trophies, having narrowly missed out during Tottenham’s runs to the 2019 Champions League final and the 2021 League Cup final.
With his contract due to end next summer, there’s speculation about whether Tottenham will extend his stay, considering his advancing years.
In the meantime, Son is focused on boosting his impressive goal record in the season’s remaining matches, starting with a pivotal home game against Burnley.
This encounter has significant implications, potentially dooming Burnley to relegation while securing Tottenham’s spot in European competition for the upcoming season.
