Mourinho reveals genius tactic he’s been working on that would allow teams have ‘extra player’

Jose Mourinho is currently between roles after parting ways with Roma. Despite this, he’s been devising a revolutionary tactic that might just transform football as we know it.

At 61, Mourinho’s departure in January was a poignant moment for many Roma fans, especially considering his success in leading the team to consecutive European cup finals and securing the UEFA Conference League title in 2022—Roma’s first silverware in over a decade.

Mourinho etched his name in history as the only coach to clinch the contemporary UEFA trio of the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.

Rumors are rife that the former Manchester United and Chelsea helmsman is eyeing a comeback to the Premier League, with Newcastle United frequently mentioned as a potential destination.

Away from the pitch, Mourinho confided to The Telegraph about his ongoing work on innovative tactics and strategies for his future club, including one particular approach that could forever alter the tactical landscape of football.

Mourinho, often dubbed ‘The Special One’, envisions a scenario where a team’s manager, in pursuit of a game, might replace the goalkeeper with another outfield player.

This player, while donning the goalkeeper’s jersey (gloves being optional), would have the freedom to join the offensive play as an additional field player.

When asked whether he could use the tactic himself, Mourinho said: “To have an extra player there … when the opposition is very low in the block and 10 minutes left? Let’s try it – yeah!”

Mourinho’s next move still remains unclear but the Portuguese confirmed he is not planning on retiring any time soon.

He said: “It is not like I am 61 and I want to stop at 65. “No way at all. There is still a long career to go.”

The bookmakers still favor Saudi Pro League clubs as Jose Mourinho’s potential next destination, with Newcastle and Chelsea following closely.

Mourinho’s recent appearance in the stands during Liverpool’s victory against Fulham on Sunday fueled speculation on social media that he might be a contender to replace the departing Jurgen Klopp. However, a move to Anfield remains highly improbable.
