Gary Neville blames Man Utd curse after Wan-Bissaka misses absolute sitter

Gary Neville has mocked Aaron Wan-Bissaka after he managed to miss a golden opportunity to give Manchester United the lead against Everton.

Erik ten Hag’s side dominated the game at Old Trafford and should have taken the lead when Wan-Bissaka was gifted the chance to score.

Antony’s initial long-range strike hit the post, before the defender reacted first from the rebound.

But, the former Crystal Palace man completely scuffed his effort and rolled it wide when it was easier to score.

All Wan-Bissaka needed was keep his composure and roll the ball into an empty net, but he showed why he has scored just twice in 149 appearances for the Red Devils.

After Wan-Bissaka missed his chance, Neville took to Twitter and says their right-back curse has continued. He said: “The Right Back goal scoring curse at Old Trafford continues.”

United continued to create chances throughout the first-half and should have been out of sight with the number of opportunities they had.

It was Wan-Bissaka’s missed opportunity that stood out to the United supporters on social media. They fumed at how he didn’t score, with one fan saying it was the ‘miss of the season’.

One said: “We actually can’t score today. That Wan-Bissaka miss will haunt us in a few minutes.”

“Not Wan-Bissaka paying tribute to Timo Werner,” another added. A third claimed: “Just saw Wan-Bissaka’s miss. I mean it was harder to not score.”

A fourth said: “How has Wan-Bissaka missed that? Miss of the season.” Another fumed: “How can you missed such a sitter Wan-Bissaka.”

Although Wan-Bissaka was blasted for his shooting ability, he got praised for his ball-playing quality and how much he has improved.

Replying to the tweet, Neville could not agree more. He said: “Agreed. He’s a lot tidier on the ball.”
