Neville says Frank Lampard has already decided to sell Jorginho

Jorginho Lampard

Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has already decided to sell Jorginho this summer window.

The Italian midfielder, who former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri signed for £50million in the summer of 2018, has not played for the club since the Premier League returned last month.

With N’Golo Kante ruled out of Chelsea’s game against Crystal Palace on Tuesday with an injury, Jorginho was expected to start the game and given an opportunity to impress and revive his career with the blues.

But Frank Lampard instead chose to start Billy Gilmour over the midfielder, with Neville believing it was evidence that the Chelsea coach is ready to sell Jorginho.

But the 28-year-old did make a brief cameo against Palace, coming on for the last few minutes as Chelsea secured a 3-2 win to climb above Leicester into third on the table.

‘You have to think that he [Jorginho] is being managed out of Stamford Bridge,’ former Manchester United player Gary Neville told Sky Sports.

‘I think it’s been clear from the moment Frank Lampard came in that he wants to build a young and hungry squad.

‘Look at the way David Luiz was let go. With the way Jorginho has been dealt with, it’s quite clear where Lampard wants to take the team.

‘When you think of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp over the last few years, they don’t veer away from the plan for any player. ‘Frank Lampard has got a clear plan.’
