Neymar sends message to Lionel Messi after Argentina’s Copa America win

Neymar has paid tribute to his former Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi after Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 to win the Copa America.

Messi has finally ended his wait to win a silverware for his country as Angel Di Maria’s first-half goal sealed Argentina’s win at the Maracana.

Neymar, meanwhile, came under fire after the game as he appeared to be in high spirits in a conversation with Messi.

But Neymar says he is ‘hurt’ following Brazil’s defeat and insisted that he ‘hates’ losing.

‘Losing hurts me, it hurts me… it’s something I still haven’t learned to live with,’ Neymar wrote on Instagram.

‘Yesterday when I lost, I went to give a hug to the biggest and best in history that I saw playing. ‘My friend and brother MESSI, I was sad and I told him, ‘son of a bitch, you beat me’.

‘I am very sad for having lost. But this guy is awesome! ‘I have great respect for what he has done for football and especially for me.

‘I HATE TO LOSE!!!! But enjoy your title, football was waiting for you for that moment! ‘CONGRATULATIONS BROTHER.’

The defeat means it’s a sad end to a curious season for Neymar who was heavily linked with a move back to Barcelona before signing a new deal with PSG.

The Ligue 1 side had a tough season and missed out on the French league title. PSG were also beaten in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League by Man City and had to watch on as Tuchel lifted the European Cup with Chelsea.
