Despite ongoing speculation, Osimhen is reportedly uninterested in leaving Galatasaray during the January transfer window.
Napoli had initially hoped to sell Osimhen outright in the summer. Negotiations with Chelsea extended until the final moments of the transfer window but ultimately fell through.
Left without a move to another major European league, Osimhen agreed to a year-long loan with Turkish giants Galatasaray, following his exclusion from Napoli’s plans.
Chelsea, who were unable to finalize a deal for Osimhen, are rumored to still be monitoring his situation, with reports suggesting they may reignite their interest in the winter transfer window.
However, journalist Florian Plettenberg claims the Nigerian international is enjoying his time in Istanbul and does not wish to end his loan prematurely.
Osimhen has quickly become a key player at Galatasaray, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in nine games. He has also earned a strong connection with fans, solidifying his role as a team talisman.
Galatasaray reportedly hope to make the loan move permanent next summer, but Napoli’s valuation of €75 million (£62.7 million) could make such a deal unfeasible for the Turkish club.
This high price tag might give Chelsea an advantage, as the Premier League side has the financial resources to meet Napoli’s demands.
Chelsea, after missing out on Osimhen, opted not to sign another striker.
Instead, manager Enzo Maresca has relied on Nicolas Jackson, who has scored six goals in 11 Premier League appearances, while backup Christopher Nkunku has contributed nine goals in seven cup matches.
