Matheus Cunha has since joined from Wolves, but the club is still looking to bolster their forward options, with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo now a top target.
There’s growing confidence that a deal can be struck, especially as Mbeumo is reportedly holding out for a move to Old Trafford.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has clarified that there’s been no recent progress in talks for Victor Osimhen, and no formal approach has been made by United.
Although Osimhen has a €75 million release clause and interest from Saudi side Al Hilal, it’s unclear whether United have initiated contact to pursue the Nigerian forward.
Meanwhile, another potential option, Jonathan David, is now off the table after completing a move to Juventus.
The Canadian striker left Lille at the end of June after five seasons, during which he scored 109 goals and provided 30 assists in 232 appearances.
Though he was briefly a free agent, United didn’t act quickly enough, and Juventus have now confirmed his arrival on a five-year contract, ending any chance of a late swoop from Old Trafford.
