Pochettino gives update on Gallagher future after latest talks

Conor Gallagher, the 23-year-old midfielder, has been in regular discussions with Mauricio Pochettino regarding his future at Chelsea.

Despite being a key player in the starting XI this season, doubts have arisen about his future at Stamford Bridge due to the limited 18 months remaining on his current contract.

Recent reports indicate the possibility of his sale to support Chelsea’s pursuit of a striker in the January transfer window, although Pochettino maintains that selling is not a prerequisite for buying this month.

Tottenham is among the interested parties eyeing the England international. While he leans towards staying in west London, speculation surrounding his future continues unabated.

The Chelsea manager isn’t worried about how Gallagher is managing the uncertainty regarding his future.

‘I think he’s doing a fantastic job, he’s working well, he’s helping the club and us and his teammates a lot.

‘We are happy with his performances. He has an advantage because he knows the club. He knows the demands of the Premier League. We are so happy with him.’

This month, the futures of several Chelsea players have been scrutinized, with indications that Ian Maatsen might soon join Borussia Dortmund on loan.

Meanwhile, Andrey Santos has returned from a loan spell at Nottingham Forest, and his next move remains uncertain.

Pochettino added: ‘If you want to ask me if I was talking with Conor about this situation: yes.

‘Like all the players, when rumours happen, it’s always good to have a good conversation with the player, like Ian Maatsen, or different players like this, Andrey Santos.

‘I think always it’s important for us, the coaches, to have very clear and very direct, honest conversations with the players. It’s healthy to have these types of relationships.

‘We were talking all different subjects, and if we have something to communicate, then we will.’
