Paul Pogba wants to renew his Manchester United contract but is demanding that he overtakes Cristiano Ronaldo to become the highest-paid player in England, according to reports.
Pogba’s current contract with expires at the end of the campaign and he will be free to negotiate with clubs outside of the Premier League from the January transfer window
The Red devils have yet to reach an agreement over a new deal with the midfielder, and it’s reported that the club’s hierarchy are ready to lose him on a free transfer next summer and are looking to sign a replacement.
L’Equipe claims that Pogba ‘has made no secret’ of his desire to extend his stay at Old Trafford.
But, Pogba’s is reportedly ‘clear’ with his demand that he is made the highest-paid player at United and in the Premier League.
Ronaldo is currently the top earner after his return to the club in the summer as the Portugal international signed a £480,000-a-week deal with United.
Pogba, meanwhile, is believed to be on a contract worth £290,000 per week.
Pogba’s hopes of helping United improve their current situation have been dealt a major blow this week after he was ruled out for 10 weeks due to a thigh injury.
The Frenchman pulled up during a shooting session with France’s national team and withdrew from the squad ahead of their games against Kazakhstan and Finland.
The France international is now set to miss United’s busy winter schedule, which includes Premier League games against Chelsea and Arsenal.
