Revealed: Pogba’s rousing dressing room speech to France players during Spain game

Paul Pogba gave a rousing dressing room speech to his France teammates in their Nations League final against Spain.

Didier Deschamps’ team went behind in the final but were able to complete a comeback with goals from Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe to lift the trophy.

But, with the game goalless at the break, Pogba took the chance to give a pep talk to the France players ahead of a vital 45 minutes.

‘We have to be aggressive. It starts from the front,’ Pogba said in the dressing room. ‘Everyone has to be involved. We recover the ball then we attack.

‘Yes, we will have to run, they have a lot of quality but we also have the quality.

‘Once we have the ball we need to keep it and we will hurt them. ‘In the second half we need to press well and be aggressive.’

While speaking in June, Roy Keane claimed that Pogba shows more leadership with France’s national team than when he is playing at Manchester United.

‘I think when he’s [Pogba] with United, he maybe doesn’t take responsibility,’ said Keane.

‘Maybe there’s too much responsibility or maybe there’s not enough players around him who can take responsibility.

‘I know with France he is sharing this kind of responsibility with other players around. Maybe in Manchester [he is] isolated too much and maybe this is why he is feeling more pressure.

‘Obviously there is a difference between the Pogba we know with France and the one we know at United.’
