With the league now on pause for the first international break, clubs have a moment to reflect on their early form. Liverpool currently sit atop the table with a perfect record, yet surprisingly, none of their players feature in Opta’s top ten.
While Hugo Ekitike has shown promise in attack, Liverpool’s victories have been hard-fought rather than dominant. They conceded four goals in their opening two fixtures—against Bournemouth and Newcastle—and relied on late goals to secure wins.
Arsenal, too, are absent from the rankings, with none of their players accumulating enough Opta points to break into the top tier.
These points are calculated based on contributions such as goals, tackles, and defensive actions, with most full-match performances yielding between 10 and 40 points. Caicedo currently averages 31.7 per game.
Joining Caicedo near the top is Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, who has earned his first England call-up following a strong start.
Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, once sidelined under Enzo Maresca, has re-emerged as a key defensive figure and also ranks highly.
Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario is the only goalkeeper in the top ten, having kept two clean sheets. Bruno Fernandes and Lucas Paqueta, both influential in the attacking third, occupy fifth and sixth spots respectively.
Chelsea’s Joao Pedro, who arrived from Brighton, has made an immediate impact with two goals in three games, placing him eighth. His teammate Enzo Fernandez ranks just ahead, giving Chelsea four representatives in the top ten—more than any other club.
The Blues remain unbeaten, with their only dropped points coming in a goalless draw against Crystal Palace.
Despite Manchester City’s slow start, Erling Haaland sneaks into the top ten, having scored three times, including a brace against Wolves.
Meanwhile, Jack Grealish, now on loan at Everton, has impressed with four assists in just two starts under David Moyes, signaling a potential resurgence in his career.
