REVEALED: Premier League’s Worst XI of the 2023/24 season

As the Premier League season of 2023-24 has drawn to a close, it’s time to take a look at the players who, unfortunately, didn’t quite meet the expectations set for them.

Despite their best efforts, these players have found themselves in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, and here we compile the ‘Worst XI’ of the season, based on statistical analysis and performance ratings.

Goalkeeper: Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal)
Aaron Ramsdale’s season took a dramatic turn with David Raya’s arrival at Arsenal. From being the undisputed number one to battling it out for the starting spot, Ramsdale’s reduced playing time has reflected in his performance, earning him a WhoScored rating of just 6.26.

Defenders:
Reece James (Chelsea) struggled with injuries and form, which impacted his performance as Chelsea’s captain, resulting in a substandard rating of 6.49.

Benoit Badiashile (Chelsea) and Lisandro Martinez (Manchester United) both had seasons to forget, with ratings of 6.48 and 6.39 respectively.

Ben Chilwell (Chelsea) also found himself among the underperformers, with a rating of 6.47.

Midfielders:
Sofyan Amrabat (Manchester United) and Oliver Skipp (Tottenham) were unable to leave a positive mark this season, with ratings of 6.24 and 6.20.

Matheus Nunes (Manchester City), seen as one of the worst signings of the season, struggled to dislodge City’s established midfielders, earning a rating of 6.35.

Attackers:
Mason Mount (Manchester United) and Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal) both had seasons that fell below their usual standards, with ratings of 6.32 and 6.53.

Anthony Martial (Manchester United) completes the forward line with a disappointing rating of 6.32.

This lineup represents a combination of unfortunate circumstances, from injuries to lack of form and adaptation issues. It serves as a reminder that football, at its core, is unpredictable and even the most promising of talents can face challenging times.

As these players look to the future, they will undoubtedly seek to bounce back stronger and prove that this season was just a temporary setback. Fans will be hoping to see them return to form and contribute positively to their teams in the upcoming campaign.
