Raheem Sterling’s stance on Arsenal transfer revealed

Raheem Sterling’s position on a potential move to Arsenal has surfaced just as the summer transfer window is about to close in what promises to be a dramatic deadline day.

The 2024 summer transfer window will close at 11pm UK time on Friday, August 30, and Sterling’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain as the deadline draws near.

Arsenal is in the market for a new winger before the window shuts and is considering a late move for Sterling. Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman is another player on their radar.

Manchester United has also shown strong interest in Sterling, with discussions about a possible swap deal involving Jadon Sancho moving to Chelsea….

However, Arsenal is eager to secure Sterling’s signature, and according to The Independent, the player’s position on a potential transfer has now been revealed. Sterling is reportedly ‘keen’ on joining the Gunners.

The report suggests that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has a close relationship with Sterling from their time together at Manchester City.

Arteta is said to appreciate Sterling’s character and believes the 29-year-old could positively influence the team, especially the younger players.

Arsenal also values Sterling for his winning experience and his familiarity with their complex tactical system, which closely mirrors Manchester City’s style.

For Sterling to join Arsenal, he would need to accept a significant pay cut, as the Gunners are unlikely to offer more than £150,000 per week.

Sterling currently earns £325,000 per week at Chelsea, but some reports suggest he may be open to lowering his salary demands to facilitate the move.

Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, delivered a harsh message to Sterling earlier this week, openly admitting that the England international is not in his plans.

‘I said already many times, he is a fantastic person,’ Maresca said when quizzed about Sterling. ‘The only thing is that every manager has a different idea. He is not the type of winger I like. That says nothing about Raheem. The history and the numbers speak for Raheem.’

Arsenal may decide to sign Sterling in the closing hours of the window – but only if he can strike an agreement for the money he is owed at Chelsea.
