Marcus Rashford has fired back at journalists over “ridiculous” stories written about him in recent weeks.
At 27, Rashford has found himself out of favor under Ruben Amorim, being excluded from four consecutive matchday squads for United’s games against Manchester City, Spurs, Bournemouth, and Wolves.
He was eventually named on the bench for the 2-0 home defeat against Newcastle on Monday evening. ..Continue Reading
Due to his recent absences, he has been heavily linked with a move away from his boyhood club in the January transfer window, with PSG and several Saudi Arabian clubs reportedly interested in the forward.
On December 31, The Sun published an article claiming that Rashford had “stepped up efforts” to leave United.
According to the outlet, Rashford “is in talks with leading sports agency Stellar” to expedite a potential move.
The article stated that the 27-year-old, currently represented by his brother, is “keen” to involve more people in the process.
Stellar is well-known for orchestrating Gareth Bale’s move from Spurs to Real Madrid in 2013.
However, on the morning of January 1, Rashford responded to the article by posting a screenshot of it on his Instagram story, accompanied by a comment.
“Been a lot of false stories written over the past few weeks but guys this getting ridiculous – never met with any agency and don’t have any plans to,” wrote Rashford.
Of course, Rashford has spoken to the media himself. On December 17, the England star discussed his future when being interviewed by journalist Henry Winter.
“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” explained Rashford when asked about his future plans.
Rashford’s future remains uncertain, but with the transfer window now open, clubs can start negotiations to secure his services if he decides to leave Manchester United.
It is still unknown whether he will be included in Amorim’s 20-man squad for United’s upcoming match against league leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
