Rashford ‘informs Man Utd of transfer decision’ after being left ‘unimpressed’

Marcus Rashford has reportedly pledged his future to Manchester United, expressing his desire to remain with the team despite ongoing rumors about his career prospects.

The winger’s recent support for Erik ten Hag, however, may not bolster the manager’s job security for the upcoming season.

Last season, under Ten Hag’s guidance, Rashford reached a personal best, scoring 30 goals in 56 matches across all competitions.

His stellar performance secured him a lucrative new deal, paying £300,000 weekly until 2028.

Yet, Rashford’s form has taken a downturn in Ten Hag’s challenging second season, with only eight goals in 40 appearances.

The 26-year-old has attracted controversy for his behavior off the pitch, including partying in Manchester shortly after a 3-0 derby loss and engaging in revelry in Belfast before missing a training session due to sickness.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS poised to initiate significant changes at Old Trafford this summer, Rashford’s position in the team could be at risk.

The Athletic suggests that United might entertain offers for the struggling homegrown talent if he seeks a fresh start elsewhere.

Conversely, HITC reports that Rashford has committed to staying and striving to regain his peak performance level in the next season.

Despite his form issues, Rashford has consistently been the first-choice left winger throughout the season. He is optimistic about benefiting from an enhanced squad post-summer.

Whether Ten Hag will continue to lead United in the 2024/25 season is uncertain. Ratcliffe and INEOS are set to make a decision following the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 25.

The inability to secure a Champions League berth has been the downfall of previous managers, and United has now officially missed out on participating in Europe’s top football competition for the next season.

Ten Hag could potentially secure his position by winning another significant trophy, following his success in ending Manchester United’s six-year trophy drought with the Carabao Cup victory in February 2023.

The club’s new technical director, Jason Wilcox, is in the midst of a one-month evaluation process to review Ten Hag’s performance, which includes examining his rapport with the team and staff.

According to reports from the Manchester Evening News, Marcus Rashford’s opinion of the 54-year-old manager has soured after a series of disappointing months.

Should this sentiment be widespread at Carrington, even a victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final may not be sufficient to convince Sir Jim Ratcliffe to retain Ten Hag, as he may opt for a change in leadership.
