Marcus Rashford’s next move remains uncertain following his January loan switch from Manchester United to Aston Villa.

Rashford remains under contract with United until the summer of 2028, but indications suggest a transfer would be the best path forward for him. With numerous clubs expected to show interest, he will have options when the summer window opens.
Although Villa holds a £40 million purchase option, reports indicate Rashford is considering alternative destinations.
“Marcus Rashford is willing to take a pay cut to seal a dream move to Barcelona and draw a line under his Manchester United career,” reports David McDonnell of the Mirror.
“Rashford is understood to have set his heart on joining Spanish giants Barca, knowing he has no chance of playing for United again while Ruben Amorim is in charge.”
Rashford was previously linked with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in January, but his move to Aston Villa allowed him to revive his career in the Premier League.
Villa fans have been impressed by his impact, with his standout display coming in the Champions League quarter-finals against PSG.
Before a hamstring injury prematurely ended his season last week, the loanee had managed four goals and five assists across all competitions.
“Medical teams from United and Villa are currently liaising over the extent of Rashford’s injury and anticipated recovery time frame,” continues McDonnell.
“Once that is clear, United will hold talks with Villa over Rashford, although the 26-year-old is not set to return to his parent club to undergo his rehab.”
Rashford’s desire to join Barcelona has become increasingly evident, though there’s little indication that the feeling is reciprocated.
Despite their financial challenges, Barcelona sit atop La Liga and possess a wealth of attacking talent.
Given the presence of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Ferran Torres in Hansi Flick’s squad, splashing out on Rashford would be a bold decision—even by Barcelona’s standards.
