Rashford sends message to Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of injury return

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford concedes it’s a ‘great feeling’ to have Cristiano Ronaldo back at the club.

The Portugal international completed a sensational return to Old Trafford in August and he’ he already scored five goals since joining from Juventus.

Rashford is yet to play alongside Ronaldo as he’s currently recovering from a shoulder operation but he scored in a behind-closed-doors friendly last week and is close to a return.

And the England star admits he can’t wait to play alongside Ronaldo, who he feels can guide the Red devils to silverware.

‘That’s a great feeling for me, as a player, but also as a fan of the club as well,’ said Rashford. ‘It’s always nice when a club legend finds a way back to the club.

‘To be playing with him back at Old Trafford is a terrific feeling and hopefully gives us a push to start winning more trophies.’

However, Rashford is hopeful of making United’s squad for their game against Leicester City after the international break.

United have missed Rashford’s speed and direct play this campaign, with Solskjaer’s team managing just nine goals in six games since their victory against Leeds United on the opening weekend.

The England international carried his shoulder injury throughout most of last season but he says he’s close to being fully fit now.

‘My recovery is – I wouldn’t say coming to an end because obviously I have to keep looking after it – but I’m in a much better place physically and mentally,’ said Rashford.

‘Last year was a very long season for me, I got this injury at the end of September and gradually it got that little bit worse, but now I’m fully free of that, I feel much better physically and mentally.’
