Reports suggest that Real Madrid have decided on Carlo Ancelotti’s successor as first team manager.
Ancelotti, who is in his second tenure with Los Blancos since 2021, also managed the club between 2013 and 2015.
During his first stint, he secured the Champions League title, and despite being dismissed, he was reappointed by president Florentino Perez. ..Continue Reading
His second spell has been even more successful, with Ancelotti winning two additional Champions League titles and twice claiming the La Liga trophy.
However, this season has brought mixed results. Real Madrid are currently second in La Liga, trailing Atletico Madrid, and have suffered two heavy El Clasico defeats to Barcelona, with an aggregate score of 9-2 in various competitions.
In the Champions League, Real have won only three of their six group stage matches, leaving their qualification for the knockout round play-offs uncertain.
These results have led to speculation about Ancelotti’s future, as Real Madrid are known for their impatience with managers who do not deliver major trophies consistently.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Santiago Solari, a former Real Madrid manager, has been identified as Ancelotti’s potential replacement.
Solari was seen at Anfield during Real’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool earlier this season and has reportedly been told to be prepared in case the club decides to part ways with Ancelotti.
Real Madrid’s 5-2 defeat to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia has intensified pressure on Ancelotti.
Solari previously managed Real Madrid from October 2018 to March 2019, where he lost eight of his 32 games in charge before being sacked.
He has maintained close ties with the club since his departure, having played for Real Madrid from 2000 to 2005 and frequently appearing at the Bernabeu.
It is believed that Solari was informed of his potential candidacy after Real’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to AC Milan, only for Ancelotti to begin turning the team’s fortunes around.
Whether Ancelotti will remain until the end of the season remains uncertain.
