Mikel Arteta is actively searching for a new wide forward in the upcoming transfer window, with Rodrygo featuring on the club’s shortlist alongside Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
Cadena SER reports that Rodrygo’s representatives are assessing interest from potential suitors, with Arsenal emerging as one of two Premier League clubs approached regarding a possible transfer.
While Arsenal recognize that signing Rodrygo will be a challenging task, Madrid remains firm on their €80m (£67.5m) valuation for the 24-year-old.
Since joining Madrid from Santos in 2018 for €45m (£39.3m), Rodrygo has amassed 13 trophies, including three La Liga titles and two Champions League victories.
His contract with Madrid runs until 2028, and his ability to operate on both wings makes him a valuable attacking asset for Arsenal.
Madrid has yet to finalize a decision on Rodrygo’s future, with incoming manager Xabi Alonso expected to determine his fate once he replaces Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season.
Additionally, Madrid’s participation in the Club World Cup next month could delay any potential transfer until August.
Meanwhile, Sky Germany reports that Arsenal has withdrawn from the race to sign Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, who is set to become a free agent when his contract expires next month.
Arsenal is reportedly prioritizing a younger attacking profile, opting against pursuing Sane, who turned 29 in January.
