Real Madrid are reportedly in the market for a new left-back this summer window and have placed Liverpool’s Andy Robertson on their list of targets.
The Spanish club are coming to the end of a disappointing season which has seen them relinquish their La Liga and Champions League titles.
They have not been helped by an injury-plagued campaign for left-back Ferland Mendy, which has seen midfielder Eduardo Camavinga filling in there in recent months.

That is not the long-term plan for the position and Real Madrid will be diving into the market this summer to sign a new left-sided defender.
The Daily Mail claim Robertson is one of a few targets they have identified for the role, with the Spaniards believing a bid of £40m and the lure of Champions League football could be enough to tempt the defender to Madrid.
Robertson has been at Liverpool since 2017 and been superb ever since, quickly making the left-back slot his own and playing 267 games for the Reds in all competitions, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.
The 29-year-old has made no signs of wanting to leave Anfield and is still under contract until 2026 so even if Real Madrid do come calling, there is no certainty that a deal can be done.
Real Madrid are also interested in Bayern and Canada left-back Alphonso Davies who has a year less than Robertson to run on his contract, but the German club insist he is not for sale.
There are not just question marks over positions on the field but in the dugout, with Carlo Ancelotti’s position in some doubt after their Champions League and La Liga disappointment.
There is also interest in him from the Brazil national ream, but the Italian coach has one more year to run on his contract and claims that he will stay, reminding onlookers that the club won the Copa del Rey, Club World Cup and the European Super Cup this campaign.
‘Everyone knows really well what my situation is: I have contract until the end of the 2024 season and I want to stay,’ he said.
‘It could have been a better season, but it was a good one. Of course, we are not satisfied with La Liga, but we fought to the end in the other competitions … and won three of them.’
