Reece James goes against Chelsea fans with Mason Mount reaction in Man Utd win

Upon his return to Stamford Bridge, Mason Mount faced a chorus of boos from the crowd as he stepped onto the field to play against his old team, Chelsea.

Despite the hostile reception, it was evident that Reece James, the Chelsea captain sidelined by injury, bore no ill will towards the Manchester United midfielder.

Mount, who had transferred to United for £55 million the previous summer, had a challenging evening in his first match against Chelsea.

The 25-year-old entered the game as a substitute in the 86th minute while United was ahead 3-2, only to be met with jeers from the Chelsea fans.

James, positioned right behind the dugout, was captured on camera offering a brief round of applause for Mount as he was announced.

The match, however, took a turn for the worse for United and Mount. Cole Palmer scored twice late in the game, securing a 4-2 victory for Chelsea.

In the game’s final moments, Mount also became the subject of derogatory remarks from Enzo Fernandez, his ex-Chelsea teammate.

According to ESPN Argentina, Fernandez screamed at Mason Mount: ‘This is Chelsea.’

During the heated exchange, the Argentine midfielder was heard using the term ‘cagon’ towards Mount, a Spanish word that is roughly equivalent to ‘coward’ in English.

In other news, Reece James has been the subject of rumors suggesting a potential departure from Chelsea in the upcoming summer. This speculation arises as Chelsea explores options to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

The club has disclosed a pre-tax loss of £90.1 million for the year ending on 30 June 2023. This financial situation has sparked concerns regarding their adherence to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability guidelines.

Recent reports have surfaced indicating that Chelsea might consider selling James after the season concludes, aiming to generate around £60 million from the transaction.
