Reece James trying to convince Serie A star to join Chelsea

Roma forward Tammy Abraham has revealed tha Reece James keeps telling him to come back to Chelsea.

Abraham is set to make a return to the Premier League this summer window, according to reports in Italy, amid links to both Chelsea and Manchester United.

The London side are said to have an €80m buy-back clause and Abraham has refused to rule out a second stint at Stamford Bridge.

Abraham has impressed in Italy under Jose Mourinho since joining from Chelsea in 2021, helping Roma win the Europa Conference League.

The 25-year-old has registered 36 goals and 12 assists in 102 games for Roma and there may be more silverware on the way in the Europa League ahead of their semi-final second leg against Bayer Leverkusen.

But with Italian media claiming that he is on the way back to England, Abraham could be set for a return to Chelsea, who are in desperate need of a striker.

Abraham has a long association with Chelsea having progressed through the youth academy and has scored 30 goals across 82 games for the Blues.

‘Just before I left Chelsea, [Fikayo] Tomori went to AC Milan and we talked a lot,’ Abraham, who has scored eight Serie A goals this season, told Tuttomercatoweb.

‘I remember the phone calls, none of us could believe what was happening. We had been at Chelsea our whole lives and in a moment we were walking away.

‘Everything I knew was Chelsea apart from a few loan moves, but even now I think it was the right time to leave.

‘I was ready to take a step forward in my career, I didn’t want to be considered a youngster or a player who had just come from the academy. It was time for me to spread my wings.

‘I still talk to so many Chelsea players, Reece James always tells me to come back!

‘We grew up together and have known each other for years – players like [Mason] Mount, [Declan] Rice and [Eddie] Nketiah.’
