Revealed: Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has lost £2.4bn in 2020 already

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has seen his net worth fall by £2.4billion already this year as the coronavirus hits the financial markets.

However, That said the Russian is still a worthy a cool £10.95b. But Russia’s billionaires have already lost a combined total £50b between them in 2020 alone according to the Moscow Times.

Should the Chelsea want to make up that substantial loss he could offload the Blues – an asset he has not been short of offers for at all.

Abramovich bought the club in 2003 and his millions have seen Chelsea enjoy the most successful period in their history.

But due to the tension between England and Russia, Abramovich saw his visa renewal turned down and has not been seen at the club since May 2018.

During the ensuing two years he has reportedly rejected four offers for Chelsea, including one from LA Dodgers supremo Todd Boehly.

The decision to deny him a visa has seen the Russian delay his plans to redevelop the Blues stadium. As plans had been in place for a £500m redevelopment on the Kings Road.

The 53-year-old was present in Baku last summer when Chelsea claimed the Europa League with a win over London rivals Arsenal.

Currently though he won’t be missing much with the Premier League suspended till April due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Abramovich’s Chelsea are battling to keep hold of fourth position and ensure Champions League football next campaign.
