Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Ben Chilwell as Brendan Rodgers is adamant that no player will be leaving Leicester City in the January transfer window.
Chilwell is on Frank Lampard’s list of targets as Chelsea are now able to spend in the upcoming window after their transfer ban was overturned last week.
Chelsea are looking to strengthen their options at left-back and Chilwell has now established himself as one of the best in that position in the Premier League.
But Rodgers insists Leicester City’s hierarchy are not looking to sell players next month.
‘There’ll be no-one leaving in January. Categorically,’ said Rodgers.
‘I’m sure if we speak, they will have the same message.
‘I speak regularly with Jon [Rudkin] and Top [Khun Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha]. It’s very clear we want to keep this squad together.
‘We want to ensure they stay around beyond January.’
