Tensions between the Brazilian and new manager Xabi Alonso are reportedly growing, with Rodrygo becoming increasingly unhappy over being sidelined for crucial fixtures.
Amid the uncertainty, Rodrygo seems open to a move, and several elite clubs—Premier League sides among them—are said to be monitoring the situation closely.
In light of his latest online post, some Chelsea fans are buzzing with anticipation, convinced it’s a sign that a Stamford Bridge switch could be imminent.
Chelsea shook the global football scene on Sunday night with a commanding 3–0 victory over Champions League holders PSG in the Club World Cup final.
Shortly after the win, Joao Pedro—who netted the third goal—marked the achievement with a celebratory post, only 11 days after completing his £60 million transfer from Brighton.
Sharing photos from the match, the striker wrote: “I AM THE CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!”
Although Chelsea supporters were excited to see their player celebrating winning with his new club, they are more excited to see that Rodrygo took to the comments to congratulate Pedro and Chelsea on the win.
Commenting on Pedro’s post, Rodrygo wrote: “Congrats J, play hard.”
Of course, the comment could just be Rodrygo sending well wishes to his Brazilian national teammate, but it hasn’t stopped some Chelsea fans getting excited.
Reacting to Rodrygo’s comment, one fan wrote: “Here we go soon. Joao Pedro has been a revelation on, and now potentially off the pitch.”
While another said: “Join us, you won’t be watching from the bench here.”
And another referenced Real Madrid’s 4-0 loss to PSG in the semi-finals, saying: “I mean if we do decide to go for him, a showing like this would make it 10x easier to convince the player. Especially after he watched his side get waxed 4-0.”
But, if Rodrygo does make the decision to leave Real Madrid this summer, it won’t just be Chelsea interested in him, as both Arsenal and Liverpool are also reported to be considering a move.
