Cristiano Ronaldo ’embarrassed’ by Man Utd’s form under Solskjaer

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly ’embarrassed’ by Manchester United’s form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United made a promising start to the campaign, winning three of their first four matches to underline their Premier League title credentials.

But the club’s inconsistent form under Solskjaer returned and they lost their opening Champions League game before being dumped out of the EFL Cup by West Ham.

Another home defeat to Aston Villa followed, while the Red devils needed a late winner from Ronaldo to secure a 2-1 victory against Villarreal.

But they failed to build on that European win, drawing at home to Everton before suffering defeats to Leicester and Liverpool.

United shipped nine goals against Leicester City and Liverpool and the club’s form has ’embarrassed’ Ronaldo, according to the Daily Mail.

Ronaldo has impressed since returning to the club over the summer, scoring six goals in nine games, but they continue to struggle under Solskjaer.

United considered replacing Solskjaer after last week’s 5-0 defeat to Liverpool but have decided to back the Norwegian coach and hope he can turn things around.

Solskjaer’s side, currently seventh in the Premier League, travel to north London on Saturday to face Tottenham, who have lost three of their last five league games.

Solskjaer conceded it had been a ‘difficult week’ for his team but says he and the side are ready to ‘fight back’.

‘We need a reaction,’ said Solskjaer. ‘It’s my job to put the players in the right frame of mind.

‘I’m responsible for the reaction, result and performance. We’ve worked on everything on the pitch that needs to be sorted for a footballer.

“We’ve had a good week and I feel that the boys are ready to give their best, as they always do. Nothing went to plan against Liverpool and that was nowhere near our best.’
