Throughout his career, Ronaldo played 518 club matches and scored 352 goals. On the international stage, he earned 98 caps for Brazil and scored 62 goals.
Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or twice, in 1997 and 2002.
During his career, he played with some of the finest talents in football, including Ronaldinho, Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos, David Beckham, and Luis Figo.
In a recent interview, Ronaldo revealed that the worst player he shared the pitch with was Thomas Gravesen during their time at Real Madrid.
He explained to Romario TV: “There was one at Real Madrid that was a joke. Gravesen was a really great guy, very good person. He recently won a $50 million poker tournament. But in football he was very bad.”
Gravesen moved to Real Madrid in January 2005 for a reported fee of £2.5 million, leaving Everton in the Premier League.
The Danish midfielder was brought in to strengthen Madrid’s defensive midfield and scored in one of his early appearances for the club, a 4-0 victory over Espanyol.
Ronaldo also named Zidane as the best he’s ever played with, he said: “Best player I’ve played with? At club level, Zidane. Zizou was very different, he had a lot of class, he was very technical, he made everything simple.”
Ronaldo also believes that he is one of the eight greatest players of all time.
Speaking to The Guardian in 2022, he said: “I think there is a very, very special group.
“Where you have Diego [Maradona], [Lionel] Messi, [Johan] Cruyff, [Franz] Beckenbauer, Pele, [Marco] Van Basten, Ronaldinho.
“I would include myself. Let the fans say, let them debate it in the bars. But you can’t rank them, can’t compare generations.
“People call me Original Ronaldo but there were others – and they weren’t false. I’m not the only one and more will come along and be better than me, in everything.”
