Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo says the players will shoulder the blame for yesterday’s hammering at the hands of Liverpool, saying: “This is on us, only on us.”
The Red devils were utterly humiliated by their arch-rivals as Jurgen Klopp’s team ran riot to win 5-0 at the theatre of dreams.
Mo Salah continued his superb form to become the first opposition player to ever score a Premier League hat-trick at Old Trafford, with Diogo Jota and Naby Keita also on getting a goal eax.

The result heaps intense pressure on United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who called it his “darkest day” and said his team had hit “rock bottom”.
But, Ronaldo, who had a would-be consolation chalked off by VAR, took to social media and said the players will take responsibility for the embarrassing defeat.
“Sometimes the result is not the one we fight for. Sometimes the score is not the one we want. And this is on us, only on us, because there’s no one else to blame,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.
“Our fans were, once again, amazing in their constant support. They deserve better than this, much better, and it’s up to us to deliver. The time is now!”
Meanwhile, United goalkeeper David De Gea believes Sunday’s poor performance against Liverpool should not be tolerated.
‘I feel the pain of our supporters, you give the team everything and we must do the same,’ De Gea wrote on Instagram. ‘I love this club and we will not accept this performance.’
