Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record in La Liga as he became only the second player to score 300 goals in the history of the league.
The Portuguese was assisted by Karim Benzema just before half-time to put Real Madrid 2-0 up against Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu.
While Lionel Messi needed 334 games to reach 300 goals with Barcelona, Ronaldo has reached the milestone in just 286 games.
The Portugal international has scored at a rate of more than a goal in a game since signing for Madrid from United in 2009, a ratio which was never done before in the history of top leagues in Europe.
However Messi is still very much ahead of Ronaldo in the overall scoring charts with 372 La Liga goals and counting.
Getafe have long been one of Ronaldo’s favourite opponents in the League as he has scored in 12 of his 15 games with them, scoring a hat-trick four times.
The fellow Madrid side have conceded 22 goals against the current Ballon d’Or holder, with only Sevilla being the side, who have fallen to him 25 times.
