Cristiano Ronaldo has tested negative for coronavirus after almost three weeks – but Italian sides Atalanta, Sassuolo, Crotone and Parma have all confirmed new cases.
The Juventus forward first tested positive for the virus on October 13 while away on international duty with Portugal.
“Ronaldo carried out a check with a diagnostic test (swab) for Covid-19. The exam provided a negative result,” Juventus said in a statement. “The player has, therefore, recovered after 19 days and is no longer subjected to home isolation.”
Juventus will play at promoted Spezia on Sunday, with all Serie A games now behind closed doors.
Ronaldo had missed four matches including the Champions League 2-0 defeat to Lionel Messi’s Barcelona, and Juve’s 2-0 victory against Dynamo Kiev in their Group G opener.
The 35-year-old’s return will be a huge boost for Andrea Pirlo’s side who are currently fifth in Serie A, four points behind league leaders AC Milan.
But as Ronaldo recovered, new cases were announced in the Serie A. In Bergamo, this weekend’s match at Crotone was cancelled after a positive case was confirmed among the coaching staff.

Crotone also confirmed that Salvatore Molina had ‘slight symptoms’ and was isolating at home. Sassuolo have three new cases, one a player, while Parma revealed two players had become infected for a second time.
Lazio are still awaiting tests results after Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto missed their Champions League game against Club Brugge as a precautionary measure.
Simone Inzaghi’s press conference before Sunday’s match against Torino has been cancelled with half the squad said to be self-isolating.
Serie A are currently applying Uefa rules whereby a football game can take place as long as a club have up to 13 healthy players, which includes a goalkeeper.
The only exemption would be when a club has an active outbreak of coronavirus with more than 10 new positive cases in a week.
