Ruben Amorim’s reaction before Bruno Fernandes scored late winner vs Burnley speaks volumes

Ruben Amorim experienced a whirlwind of emotions in the final moments of Manchester United’s nail-biting 3-2 victory over Burnley, capped off by Bruno Fernandes’ decisive penalty.

Following their midweek humiliation at the hands of League Two side Grimsby Town, United were under immense pressure to deliver a result at Old Trafford. ..Continue Reading

They took an early lead thanks to a Josh Cullen own goal, but Lyle Foster’s equalizer early in the second half deflated the home crowd.

Fortunately, Bryan Mbuemo responded almost immediately to restore United’s advantage, only for Jaidon Anthony to level the score again just past the hour mark.

United pressed relentlessly in search of a winner, and deep into stoppage time, referee Sam Barrott awarded a penalty after Amad Diallo was pulled down by Anthony inside the box.

During the lengthy VAR review, cameras caught Amorim visibly anxious, gazing skyward as Fernandes prepared to take the spot-kick.

Just as he did during the Grimsby shootout, the Portuguese manager couldn’t bear to watch the moment unfold.

His tense body language and emotional reaction have sparked plenty of conversation across social media platforms.

One fan said: “As a manager of a team like United, and right now that the mood is down, your body language matters. Imagine players looking at the manager in that moment and see him looking away. His body language right now, will go a long way in motivating these players.”

A second commented: “Looks like someone who is not confident at all and does not have much control over this team.”

A third wrote: “Ruben Amorim has the worst body language of any coach I have seen in a long while. He is just…deflationary,” and a fourth said: “I actually felt for him.”

A fifth added: “Not a fan of Amorim’s gestures. Never seen a coach so stressed, barely watching the game and walking back and forth. As a coach, you should inspire trust, balance & stability. Calm down, watch the game and manage your team to win the game instead of avoiding it.”

At the time of writing, Man United sit ninth in the Premier League with four points from nine.
