This loss means that Barcelona could fall to third place in the La Liga standings if both Madrid and Atletico Madrid win their upcoming games.
Atletico are currently behind Barcelona only on goal difference, while Madrid is in third place, just one point behind the leaders.
Speaking after the match, midfielder Pedri said to TV3: “It is impossible to leave happy today. I think we started a little asleep, they scored that goal against us. And then we woke up, we created chances, but we lacked spark.
“We have to get into the games better. When a team like that scores quickly, they put a lot of people behind [the ball]. And we lacked the spark I said and clarity in front of goal. We’re on a bad run and we have to improve.”
A video recently went viral on social media showing Madrid star Rudiger laughing while looking at Barcelona’s score on his phone.
According to Forbes, the clip was captured by an influencer at a Red Bull event Rudiger attended. The footage quickly gained widespread attention.

Rudiger was in action for Madrid on Saturday night as they also dropped points in their quest for the La Liga title.
In a thrilling match at the Estadio de Vallecas, Rayo Vallecano held the reigning European champions to a 3-3 draw.
Vallecano took an early 2-0 lead with goals from Unai Lopez and Abdul Mumin, but Madrid fought back with goals from Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo to make it 3-2.
However, Carlo Ancelotti’s team couldn’t secure the win as Isi Palazon equalized in the 64th minute.
Madrid will return to action on Wednesday when they face Mexican side Pachuca in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in Qatar.
