Despite the speculation, the Egyptian has remained unfazed on the pitch, scoring 20 goals to propel Liverpool to the top of both the Premier League and the Champions League.
In November, he disclosed that the club hadn’t made him an offer, and last month he reiterated that there was no update on the situation.
Before the match against Manchester United at Anfield, Salah spoke with Patrick Davison of Sky Sports, stating that it was his “last year at the club.”
Pressed on his phrasing, Salah said: “So far? Yes. Into the last 6 months, there is no progress there, we’re far away from any progress, so we just need to wait and see.”
A recent report from Foot Mercato reveals that Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring the situation, with Salah’s representatives being in “continuous discussions” with the French club.
It’s widely known that clubs in Saudi Arabia have shown interest in Salah, but “no club has taken any concrete step” to secure his move to the Middle East.
The report indicates that Salah’s primary goal is still to extend his contract with Liverpool and “continue his adventure” in the Premier League.
However, he’s reportedly frustrated by the lack of progress, and his recent comments seem to be an effort to put pressure on both the club and his management.
Salah, along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is currently set to leave Liverpool, but he is making a conscious effort to stay focused on his performances.
This season, Salah has arguably been the standout player in the Premier League, consistently delivering top-notch performances.
“What I say to myself is that if it’s the last six months, what do you want to see in the future?” Salah explained on how he is avoided distractions.
“Do you want to look back and say that I was worried or stressed about the contract? Or do you just want to say that I had an incredible season? That’s what I have in mind. If I ever get distracted, I just tell myself I want to look back and say I had an incredible season. That’s what I want to do.”
