With a highly anticipated showdown against Arsenal looming at Anfield this weekend—both sides having won their opening two fixtures—Salah spoke to Sky Sports, offering his perspective on the title race and the teams he believes will be in the hunt.
“Of course, that team,” Salah said, referring to Arsenal, “I said that a few times today and also at the PFA awards. I said they are the favorites because they have played together for five, six years, so they understand each other’s game and they have had the same manager for five, six years.
“My opinion this year is Arsenal number one”
“When the team has stuck together for that long, they know each other’s game, so it becomes easier for them. But other teams like us and Manchester City are changing a lot of players, which is sometimes tricky.”
However, he then clarified his top pick for the campaign. “But again, with a team led by Pep Guardiola, they are always the favorites. But of course, in my opinion, this year Arsenal are number one.”
Salah has his sights set on claiming a historic fifth Golden Boot, which would see him surpass Arsenal icon Thierry Henry and stand alone as the Premier League’s top scorer across seasons.
