Samuel Eto’o: Eden Hazard is close to Messi’s level

Former Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o believes Eden Hazard has been undervalued throughout his career, and will become one of the best in the world at Real Madrid.

‘Hazard has to win the Ballon d’Or,’ Eto’o told Radio MARCA and El Partidazo of COPE.

‘He hasn’t been valued enough but now he’s at one of the best teams in the world all eyes will be on him.’

He even went as far as to compare him to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi. The two will be playing against each other a lot more often now Eden Hazard has made the move to Santiago Bernabeu.

‘He’s close to Messi’s level and I hope that he plays Barcelona when he’s not at 100 percent.’

Samuel Eto’o played 199 matches for Barcelona between 2004-2009, playing alongside Lionel Messi during his rise to prominence. He also played seven games for Real Madrid during his early career.

Real Madrid’s pre-season turned into a disaster on Friday night as they lost 7-3 to La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

They’ve also lost to Bayern Munich this summer window, and only managed a win on penalties over Arsenal, in what has been a very poor start to Hazard’s time at Real Madrid.

Despite Zinedine Zidane investing a lot of money in players this summer window, it seems Real Madrid still have more work to do to return to form in the league.

Eden Hazard arrived in a £150million transfer move from Chelsea in June as Real look to get back on track after a disappointing 2018-19 campaign.
