Sasa Kalajdzic confirms he’s open to Man Utd transfer

Sasa Kalajdzic has conceded that he is open to the idea of moving to Manchester United who have recently been linked with the Stuttgart player.

Erik ten Hag is at work identifying transfer targets for his new club and one area that needs improvement is the No.9 position, with Cavani leaving, Antony Martial’s future unclear and Marcus Rashford struggling with injuries and form.

Cristiano Ronaldo is of course still playing well, but cannot be expected to play every game, and Kicker are now reporting that Kalajdzic has emerged as the perfect ‘Plan-B’ option for the club and could be available for just £17m.

The 24-year-old is currently on international duty with Austria, being managed by former United interim manager Ralf Rangnick, and was asked about the speculation linking him with a transfer move.

‘Nothing is out of the question, I’m open to everything,’ he said. ‘There will be no rush job. It’s about finding what’s best for me.

‘I don’t know where the journey is going. There are many things going on in the background.’

At 6ft7’, Kalajdzic is the tallest player in the German Bundesliga and his physique and style-of-play has been likened to former England striker Peter Crouch.

He first rose to prominence in the 2020/21 campaign when he scored 17 goals for Stuttgart, but injuries severely restricted his game time for much of the past season.

But, a return of six goals in his last 11 matches for the Bundesliga club helped them scrape survival and proved that when fit Kalajdzic is a dangerous forward.

United may face competition for his signature however, as the Austrian is also linked with Dortmund who are looking for a player to fill the void of Erling Haaland who is heading to Manchester City.
