Paul Scholes showered praise on Alejandro Garnacho after Manchester United’s triumph over Chelsea, asserting that the winger was the standout performer during the match.

Having been a bright spot for the club in recent weeks, the Argentine international showcased his skills with a remarkable bicycle kick against Everton and followed it up with another goal against Galatasaray in the previous week.
Following a disappointing loss to Newcastle United over the weekend, ten Hag implemented changes in the attacking lineup, relegating Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to the bench and introducing Antony and Rasmus Hojlund.
Garnacho retained his spot in the lineup, causing problems for Chelsea as he operated down the left wing on Wednesday night.
Despite McTominay being awarded the man of the match for his two goals, Scholes suggested that the young winger may have been more deserving of the accolade, highlighting his performance as having ‘gone up another level’ against Chelsea.
‘I thought Garnacho was excellent,’ Scholes told Premier League Productions. ‘I thought he was probably the best player on the pitch.
‘I know Scott scored two goals and got player of the match but I thought Garnacho was excellent and he went up another level tonight.’
Amid reports of unrest within the club, United secured a significantly important victory just before a series of matches that could shape their season.
Their upcoming schedule includes a home match against the in-form Bournemouth on Saturday, followed by the crucial final Champions League group game against Bayern Munich on Wednesday. Subsequently, United will face Liverpool a week from this Sunday.
Expressing gratitude for the support, ten Hag acknowledged the fans for standing by the team, especially after returning to winning form.
‘I am used to it. Every time. I have to say, even in bad times, the fans and the crowd are behind us,; he said.
‘They are supporting use and we have to please them. We have to give everything we have, as a team, it is what they can expect from us. So we have to co-operate and we have to give the best we can.’
