Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has identified the team he believes could challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.
The former England star suggests that Liverpool might be the side capable of taking on Pep Guardiola’s dominant team.
Scholes made these comments following Liverpool’s emphatic 3-0 victory over his former club, Manchester United, at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Luis Diaz scored twice in the first half, with Mohamed Salah assisting both goals, and Salah added a goal of his own after the break.
Scholes said on Premier League Production, via sportskeeda.com, “There’s a real dominance by the Liverpool squad.
“They could really challenge for that (Premier League) title this year, even (after) three games in.
“Before a ball was kicked, I thought Arsenal might be there to give City a real go, possibly go on to win it.
“After watching the first three games, I think Liverpool could go past Arsenal.
“I think that’s a team that can challenge City, without a shadow of a doubt.”
