Paul Scholes has revealed he is a big admirer of Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey and is surprised no Premier League side is trying to sign him.
The 22-year-old enhanced his reputation last season, playing a key role in Villa’s resurgence under Unai Emery which culminated in qualification for the Europa Conference League.
Ramsey looks likely to star for England’s Under-21 team at this summer’s European Championships and scored the opening goal in last night’s opening group stage victory over Czech Republic.

While Premier League teams are scrambling to spend big on the likes of Mason Mount, Declan Rice and Sandro Tonali, Scholes believes a player of Ramsey’s talents may offer a better solution to clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle.
Reacting to Ramsey’s display for Lee Carsley’s team, he wrote on Instagram: ‘Surprised no big clubs are coming in for this lad!’.
Villa meanwhile, have confirmed that former Man United target, John McGinn, has signed a new long-term deal. The midfielder’s new contract keeps him at the club until 2027.
McGinn moved to Villa Park from Hibernian in 2018 and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League in 2019 with a goal in the Championship play-off final against Derby.
The 28-year-old was even named club captain last summer and was a vital part of the Villa set-up last season, playing 34 Premier League games.
