Sergio Ramos makes Ronaldo transfer revelation after De Ligt claim

Sergio Ramos will end his career with Real Madrid after seeing attempts to make a transfer to China on a big-money contract fail recently.

Ramos, who scored his 20th international goal in Spain’s 3-0 victory over Sweden in Monday night, was cheered by the crowd just weeks after attempting to make a move to the Far East on a free.

The 33-year-old had grown frustrated in Real Madrid having fallen out with president Florentino Perez after the club’s Champions League defeat to Ajax back in March – and looked to force a move.

A hastily-arranged press conference two weeks ago saw him turn down a move to China, but there were also suggestions that Juventus were interested in his signature as their quest for the Champions League continues.

That want saw Juve spend big-money on Cristiano Ronaldo 12 months ago and suggestions had been that Sergio Ramos could reunite with him.

But now, when asked whether Ronaldo had persuaded him to join him in Turin, the Spain captain issued a denial.

“With Cristiano Ronaldo I always had a great relationship,” he told SportMediaSet.

“But I continued with Real Madrid , the market rumours – let’s leave them aside.

“Has Ronaldo called me to Juventus? No, no.”

Ramos’ declaration comes after Matthijs de Ligt revealed that Ronaldo had asked the Ajax captain about joining Juventus.

Asked if Ronaldo instructed him to join Juventus, De Ligt said: “That could well be true.

“What I answered? I didn’t understand him at first. So I said… no, I didn’t say anything.”

He added: “I was a bit shocked, that’s why I laughed. But I didn’t say anything.

“Just after the game you just feel bad that you’ve lost, that’s all you’re thinking about.”
