Thiago Silva & Chilwell feature as strong Chelsea team thrash Weymouth 13-0

A strong Chelsea team which include players like Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi destroyed Weymouth 13-0 in a friendly on Sunday.

The game, which also involved Kurt Zouma, Ross Barkley, Kepa, Emerson and Zappacosta, was played at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground in order to give some players the much-needed game time after a complicated pre-season.

It was also Weymouth’s final game of the pre-season before they start their campaign at home to Boreham Wood next weekend.

Weymouth confirmed on Twitter that Chelsea’s lineup was full of current internationals, but said they could not release a squad list due to the agreement put in place with the Blues.

Thomas Tuchel’s side found themselves 8-0 up at the break, having opened the scoring in the fourth minute.

Weymouth held on for the opening 13 minutes of the second half before Chelsea scored five goals before the full-time whistle in front of Thomas Tuchel, who was watching from the sidelines.

Chelsea opened their Premier league season with a superb 3-0 home win against Crystal Palace, thanks to goals from Marcos Alonso, Pulisic & Trevoh Chalobah.

Chalobah’s recent displays have given Tuchel a selection headache for the rest of the campaign.

The young centre-back was expected to go out on loan this year, with several senior players seen to be ahead of him in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

But it seems that Tuchel could now consider Chalobah, who came through the academy at the club, as part of his short-term plans for the season.
