Arne Slot aims dig at Man Utd as Ten Hag battles to save job

Liverpool manager Arne Slot seems to have taken a subtle swipe at rivals Manchester United, weeks after their 3-0 defeat.

Since joining Liverpool in July, Slot has made a strong impression as the successor to the legendary Jurgen Klopp, who left at the end of last season….Continue Reading

The Dutch coach has led the Reds to victories in all but one of their games across all competitions, with his team yet to concede more than one goal in any match.

Arguably his biggest achievement to date was the commanding 3-0 win over long-time rivals United, and now, weeks later, Slot seems to have taken a sly jab at the club.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Bologna on Wednesday, Slot reflected on his tenure at Liverpool and the challenges he’s encountered in the English league.

He said: “Every fixture is difficult in the Premier league but everybody tells me that a top league table team is harder to beat than a bottom league table team… and we have not faced one of them yet”.

Manchester United are traditionally regarded as one of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ clubs and are usually expected to be among the top teams, despite their poor start to the season.

However, Arne Slot doesn’t seem to share that view. With what appears to be a playful tone, he pointed out that Liverpool have yet to face a team currently ranked higher than 10th in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest, who handed Liverpool their only defeat of the season, are currently in 10th place, while United sit 13th after winning two matches, drawing one, and losing three.

Slot’s remarks, however, are the least of United’s concerns. Just four weeks after their 3-0 loss to Liverpool, they endured another crushing defeat, this time to Tottenham Hotspur.

This latest setback has added significant pressure on United manager Erik ten Hag, who now faces a crucial few games to salvage his position.
