Tottenham are close to signing Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon after hijacking Manchester United’s move for the Spaniard.
The 23-year-old is set to leave Real this summer after an impressive loan spell with Sevilla last season and United had been in talks with the La Liga champions for the last week over a possible £20m deal.

However, negotiations hit a stumbling block when Madrid insisted on including a buy-back clause, with the Red devils unwilling to agree.
And that has opened the door for Tottenham and the Athletic claim that a deal is now close to being struck that will see Reguilon move to North London on a permanent basis.
