According to reports, Erik ten Hag stopped two Manchester United players from departing Old Trafford on transfer deadline day.
On the final day of the transfer window, Manchester United’s management was active, finalizing several deals. They introduced their new signing, Manuel Ugarte, and completed the sale of Scott McTominay.
Ugarte joined Manchester United in a £50.5m transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, while McTominay, an academy product, was sold to Napoli for £25m….

The Daily Mail reports that Real Betis, a team from La Liga, approached United with loan offers for both players. However, United made it clear that neither would be allowed to leave.

Antony has struggled at Old Trafford since his £82m transfer from Ajax in 2022, and there were rumors earlier in the summer that he might be available for sale.
Nevertheless, United deemed a loan move unwise and also opted to retain Eriksen, despite his reduced involvement in the team.
Antony, 24, did not play in Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Fulham and only made a late substitute appearance in last weekend’s loss to Brighton.
Even in his brief time on the pitch at the Amex Stadium, Antony was criticized for his involvement in Brighton’s injury-time goal, with Joe Cole commenting after the game that United likely want to sell him.
Eriksen has yet to make an appearance for Manchester United this season and is expected to face further competition following Ugarte’s arrival from PSG.
Ugarte signed a five-year deal with Manchester United, becoming their fifth summer acquisition.
‘It is an incredible feeling to join a club of this magnitude; one that is admired all around the world’ he said.
‘Manchester United is an ambitious club and I am an ambitious player. I know how incredible United fans are and I cannot wait to experience Old Trafford.
‘I’m someone who is so determined to succeed; I will sacrifice and give everything for my team-mates. Together we will fight to win trophies and reach the level where this club needs to be.’
One player Ten Hag allowed leave was McTominay, despite claiming at a press conference on Friday that he had mixed feelings over his exit.
McTominay, who will be joined at Napoli by Scotland team-mate Billy Gilmour, said he would have ‘snapped your hand off’ for the career he enjoyed at United.
‘I’ve absolutely loved it and I’m very, very grateful for the football club and I’m ready for a new challenge and I’m ready to go and embrace it and take it by storm,’ he said.
‘I want to see Manchester United win, I want to see us do really, really well and I’ll be watching as well. Thank you for having me and I have enjoyed every minute.’
