Erik ten Hag has called for Manchester United to sign additional players during the summer transfer window to bolster the squad’s depth.
United have acquired young center-back Leny Yoro and Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee this off-season, but Ten Hag believes more investment is essential to improve on last season’s eighth-place Premier League finish and to compete effectively with their rivals.

Although the Dutchman is confident his squad can defeat any opponent, he is keen to ensure there are enough options to handle injuries, which severely impacted the team during the 2023-24 season.
“I want the squad as strong as possible,” he stated at a press conference.
“We already made two very good buys, so when everyone is fit, we have a team that can beat everyone. But with squad depth, we need to catch up because we had injuries. This season will be survival of the fittest.”
He added: “We are looking in all the positions to reinforce. We need a plan with the squad to make sure we are occupied in every area.”
After defeating Rangers in a recent friendly in Edinburgh, Ten Hag hopes his team will deliver an impressive performance against Premier League rivals Arsenal in a pre-season friendly this week.
That match will be followed by games against Real Betis and Liverpool before their pre-season tour of the United States concludes.
