‘What a performance’ – John Terry hails Chelsea star despite defeat to Man City

Chelsea legend, John Terry, has singled out Lewis Hall, for praise after the club’s Carabao Cup 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday.

Terry took to his Twitter handle to heap praises on Hall for his brilliant first-half performance against Manchester City.

Hall made only his second senior start for Chelsea against Pep Guardiola’s side on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium.

He made 21 out of 27 accurate passes and registered two shots on target in the game, with one he really should have converted.

The English youngster broke into the Manchester City box after dropping a shoulder to make space away from Rico Lewis.

However, the 18-year-old star could only send his shot straight at the onrushing City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. Despite this, he won six of seven ground duels and defended bravely during the encounter.

But goals from Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez ensured the Premier League champions eliminated the Blues from the Carabao Cup third round stage.

Reacting to Hall’s performance, Terry tweeted: “What a great first half performance from Lewis Hall.””

Also reacting to Hall’s performance, Potter told Sky Sports: “Lewis Hall did brilliantly. Fantastic performance. Great quality great effort. You can see he can take the ball, He took responsibility.

‘Putting the ball in the net is the hardest thing and that’s all he didn’t do today but everything he did do was fantastic.’
