John Terry sends message to Zouma over Tottenham transfer

John Terry has urged Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma to turn down a move to Tottenham before the end of the summer transfer window.

Having secured a £97.5m deal to bring Romelu Lukaku to the club, Chelsea have now turned their attention to signing Jules Kounde.

But, the Blues need to trim their squad to make the way for Kounde’s arrival and are open to offers for the Frenchman.

Chelsea want at least a £20m fee for Zouma, with West Ham, Tottenham and Roma all interested in the player.

Tottenham have already signed Argentine central defender Cristian Romero but are looking to sign one more defender before the deadline.

Zouma is believed to be keen on staying in the Premier League and remaining in London, which would boost Spurs’ hopes.

However, former Chelsea skipper Terry has sent a warning to Zouma about moving to Tottenham.

In response to Sky Sports’ Instagram post which revealed Tottenham’s interest in Zouma, Terry replied: ‘Don’t do it @kurtzouma’.

Speaking about Zouma’s situation this month, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said: ‘Kurt comes from a very different situation.

‘Kurt was part of the team for half a year, I know him exactly, what I can demand from him, what he can give to the team. He was part of a very successful half a season.

‘He was a very lively part of it, maybe not in minutes but I want to remember he was a crucial member of the team that won 2-0 against Atletico, for example.

‘So when he was needed, and he had some tough decisions against him, but when he delivered. So the situation isn’t comparable to Ruben [Loftus-Cheek].

‘Ruben needs to show now everything in some weeks if that’s possible. For Kurt, it’s different as I know what he can deliver.’
